4K on the way

Currently HD digital cinemas are currently equipped with projection at 2K which offers a resolution of 2048 x 1080.  However, it looks like this is soon to move up to 4K offering an even greater degree of detail well above current cinema and home entertainment system capabilities.

Everything seems to be going digital in the movie business at the moment including cameras – use of new digital units with 35mm sensors is on the increase with leading cinematographers.
